The NURC has three main units: CIVIC EDUCATION The civic education unit as a whole contributes to the promotion of social cohesion by raising awareness for Rwandans on their rights and duties as well as the functioning of the government institutions. This unit has the following tasks:
- Development of the national syllabus, promoting national unity and reconciliation
- Promotion of a culture of tolerance, unity and reconciliation through civic education
- Discussion on unity and reconciliation, engagement of national leadership in unity and reconciliation
- Trains all levels of Rwandan society on unity and reconciliation
- Evaluation of national unity and reconciliation initiatives
PEACE BUILDING AND CONFLICT MANAGEMENT This unit monitors whether what is done conforms to national unity and reconciliation policy and advocates for it to become the responsibility of each and every Rwandan or Institution The unit has the following tasks:
- Review the laws pertaining to unity and reconciliation;
- Proposes law reforms in interest of unity and reconciliation;
- Act as monitors of injustice and discrimination
- Makes Reports of whether government organs respect and observe policies of National unity and reconciliation among Rwandans;
- Monitors whether political parties, leaders and population in general respect and observe policies and practices of national unity and reconciliation;
- Mediates conflicts pertaining to unity and reconciliation of Rwandans.
ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE The Administration and Finance Unit is a support Service and its activities are crosscutting, namely: - Accounting;
- Human Resource Management;
- Procurement;
- Logistics;
- Finance;
- Legal Affairs;
- Information and Technology (IT);
- Central secretariat.
