Churches leaders, believers has a great role in promotion of unity and reconciliation among Rwandans

During their retreat of almost one week at AIPER NYANDUNGU/ Kigali Town, the leaders of Islam in Rwanda receives the NURC’s Executive Secretary Dr. Habyalimana Jean Baptiste who gives them  a session on “Role of leaders, especially churches and Islam leaders in promotion of Unity and Reconciliation among Rwandans’’.

During the session Dr Habyalimana Jean Baptiste gives to the participants in the retreat the background of History of Rwanda, how the country was characterized by divisionism, massacres and discrimination from the independence up to July 1994, when Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) stopped the genocide against Tutsis. Then the process of reconciliation began in difficult time when there was no infrastructure because as he said all were destroyed by perpetrators of genocide against Tutsis in 1994.

Now, it is our role as believers, either you belong to Islam, catholic, protestants, or other denomination you have a role of reconciling and uniting people” conclude Dr Habyalimana during the discussion with participants.
