This Sunday 30th December 2012, NURC joins orphans of genocide children to celebrate Christmas and Happy New Year of 2013.

Lead by the Vice President of the Commission Madam Xaverine Uwimana and Executive Secretary of the National Unity and Reconciliation Commission Dr. Habyalimana Jean Baptiste, the delegation from Nursery of Peace Association Charity (NOPA) celebrate with orphans children for Christmas and Happy New Year.

Claire Uwantege, one of the orphans children visited said they are thankful for the visit because as she said it shows them that even though they lost their beloved parents during genocide against Tutsis in 1994 that still country is their parents. “I was very surprised with this visit and thank to God for this opportunity for us, because it gives us encouragement, thanks for the National Unity and Reconciliation Commission, thanks to NOPA  Charity, thanks to Government of Rwanda for what they do for us’’ Conclude Uwantege Claire.

The Executive Secretary of the NURC said that the occasion of celebrating with orphans or widows is very important in promoting Unity and Reconciliation of Rwandans. He call upon everyone to join orphans, widows or other vulnerable people to celebrate with them because as he concluded it shows hospitality to them.

A part from sharing drinks and foods for conviviality with orphans children, NURC gives a cheque of One million Rwandan Francs to the Association “Abaharanira amahoro’’ of these orphans. This money will help this association in their project of animal husbandry of goats which shall help them in the future.
